How can I give to the hospital?

Ways to Give
Regardless of their size or designation, your tax-deductible contributions help sustain our mission of service to our community. There are many ways you can make a contribution to the Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation. Some of the more popular options are listed below.

Planned Giving
Planned giving is a method of including charitable giving in your long-term financial plan. As a friend of the MMH Foundation, your generosity can benefit the hospital as well as enhancing your future financial security. Every planned gift is unique and we wish to treat it as such.

Bequests
The most common form of planned giving is a gift through the donor’s will. The donor may name the Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation in their will for a specific amount or a percentage of their estate. Donations to the Foundation are eligible for tax credits, which may be passed on to your heirs.

Life Insurance
You may name Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary of your new or existing life insurance policy. By doing this, you may enjoy tax credits in your lifetime on your premiums or receive tax credits on the policy’s cash value.

Charitable Gift Annuities
This is a contract between a donor and the Foundation. The donor makes a gift to the Foundation and in return, he or she receives annual payments for life, the size of which depends on the donor’s age at the time. A portion of this gift is tax deductible and not all of the annual payments will be taxed as income.

Charitable Lead Trusts
These gifts are most appealing to donors who wish to pass assets to their heirs without paying a substantial amount in taxes. To do this, the donor will allow the Foundation to receive income from the donor’s assets for a certain period of time, after which the asset is transferred back to the donor or the donor’s heirs.

Charitable Remainder Trusts
Through these, donors can get income tax deductions and escape capital gains taxes. Many donors find this appealing through the process of retirement planning.

Memorial Contributions
Gifts to memorialize a loved one by serving the living can be given at any time and in any amount. When making your gift, please attach the name of the person you are honoring and the family contact name and address. We will responsively contact the family to share with them your thoughtfulness.

Electronic Bank Transfers
There are many advantages to using electronic bank transfers to make your gift to the Marengo Memorial Hospital Foundation. You never have to worry about a check getting lost or forgetting to mail the check; and best of all, it’s safe and free. You can have any amount ($10 minimum) automatically deducted from your checking account or debited to a credit card.

Levels of Giving

Groundbreaker - $100.00 and up
Friend - $500 and up
Partner - $1,000 and up
Benefactor - $5,000 and up
President's Society - $10,000 and up
Chairman's Society - $25,000 and up
Founder's Society - $75,000 and up

Donations made of $100.00 and up will be given a leaf on the donor tree. Once a donor has moved up a level in giving his/her name, or their loved one's name will be moved appropriately to show their level of giving.
